Philippines President Raises Taxes On Coffins As Death Toll From Drug War Rises

The drug war embarked on by the President of Philippines Rodrigo Duterte seems to be a boost to the country’s economy rather than a curse as seen by the international community.

Dealers of coffins are making huge monies from the war as prices of coffins have witnessed a significant increase in the past days, hence a boost to the country’s economy and reduction of unemployment rate.

Duterte has said that he’s raising taxes on the sales of coffins so that the benefits of the drug war are not only enjoyed by a small minority of the citizens.

“I have asked the Internal Revenue Service to look into taxes of coffins as the country has to benefit fully from the drug war” – Duterte said.

In few months in office as president, Duterte has killed nearly 3000 people in a his own style of fighting drugs.
