Beenie Man has sued Austin & Austin Media Company, owners of the website (website name withheld to avoid referrals) that published a hoax story suggesting that the Grammy award winner has died.
In a suit filed by the lawyers of the Jamaican reggae dancehall recording artist, they are requesting for the sum of $10 million in damages and an apology from the media company for such publication.
The internet was set ablaze when the hoax report went viral.
The hoax report stated that “The “Who am I” hit maker contracted the Zika virus and Dengue about two months ago and underwent a series of blood test, injections and pills after which he recovered. He is reported to have complained of feverishness two weeks ago which raised an alarm about his recovery from the deadly virus.”
The reported added that “He was rushed to the hospital last night after suffering from an Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). He died around 2.15 pm today, his family confirmed.”
